I'm a writer, so a laptop is a necessity. But I do work from home and use my desktop more.

I use a desktop with two monitors in the office and a laptop when I am in the field.

kia on Sun, 10/19/2008 - 9:15am

Okay, work didn't give me both, but we use desktops and laptops.

I travel a ton so I needed something portable I already had a laptop I liked so I kept it, but they were willing to get me one. I did get a smart phone for work though. I work from home, so if I can't get email on the go I feel guilty for leaving the house. Sad I know.

LilGlamDiva on Sun, 10/19/2008 - 11:39am

we only use laptops. All of us. Its handy if the car breaks down, I can work from home for the day, or when we need to travel or go into the server labs.

I have a Dell that is provided by my job because I travel between our offices. If I working at my desk. I also have a 22" monitor that I hook up to it.

MissMarisol on Sun, 10/19/2008 - 4:45pm

We use laptops, and all desks have docks with monitors, keyboards and mice. When you are at your desk to just dock up and it's like having a desktop. Best of both worlds....and I can work from home on the VPN.

i have a mac book pro and a huge screen. i prefer that since i am the web girl and have to tote my computer around for meetings and afternoons at the coffee shop.

kcwebgirl on Sun, 10/19/2008 - 10:15pm

I work at 2 different design studios. One has a desktop for me to use. But I have to take my MBP to the other studio.

rachelspark on Mon, 10/20/2008 - 5:13am

They issue us a laptop, although I usually keep it hooked up to the docking station, so it feels more like a desktop.

supercoolnat on Mon, 10/20/2008 - 5:28am

I use a Power Mac G5 at work and have a MacBook Pro at home.

glam sugar on Mon, 10/20/2008 - 6:03am

work gave me TWO desktops Smiling
It's so much easier to do work that way Sticking out tongue

Lovely_1 on Mon, 10/20/2008 - 6:36am

It depends on where you work within my organization. We are planning to go all laptops with docking stations when we do our next refresh so that everyone will have the opportunity to telecommute which I'm really excited about. Right now about half of my coworkers have both a laptop and desktop. I only have a desktop so I'm always borrowing someone's laptop or using my own personal one for meetings...it's a pain in the a**...

darkangeldaria on Mon, 10/20/2008 - 7:12am

my work gave me a MacBook Pro laptop and I love it! Thanks work! =D

esmerb on Mon, 10/20/2008 - 8:47am

Work gave me a laptop..I have to use a couple extra monitors and a wireless keyboard at the office, so it feels like a desktop. But I take it home a lot too, because it's newer and better than my Dell laptop at home!

Angela123 on Mon, 10/20/2008 - 8:48am

Work gave a beautiful MacBook Pro! I love it, especially since my Powerbook at home is starting to show it's age. I used to have a iMac at work, but my boss asked me if I preferred a laptop and I opted to go that route and I'm sure glad I did!

sonya ina on Mon, 10/20/2008 - 8:57am

I have to travel for work on occasion so my work computer is a dell precision M6300 laptop.

hanako66 on Mon, 10/20/2008 - 1:04pm

They gave me a laptop at work and I love it because I can work from home sometimes if I need/want to Laughing out loud

suziryder on Mon, 10/20/2008 - 1:48pm

This one is kind of weird for me. My work gave me one, but as I am a consultant, each client either gives me a laptop or a desktop. So, I usually end up with atleast 2 computers on my desk at all times. One allows me access tot he client network, the other allows me to vpn to my company's network, and each allows me access to websites the other won't lol. the key is remembering which allows what websites lolol

cravinsugar on Tue, 10/21/2008 - 6:52am

if i did work a would LOVE 2 have a MacBook Pro. Smiling

The elegant ladies of Lipstick Jungle are Apple lovers — two women have MacBook Airs while one has a MacBook Pro. The most notable thing about their laptops is that they use them at work (and in the bathroom, yuck).

Gone are the days when everyone had a company-issued desktop computer, and here to stay is the time when work goes with you via your BlackBerry and laptop. Like it or not, our lives are portable, and many employers have figured out that it makes a lot of sense to give certain employees laptops they can use on the go. I've got my work laptop, what about you?
