I DESPISE umbrellas, even when it's pouring. They're too much trouble. I don't use one unless I have to be outside for a long period of time, other than that I RUN.
Live in the Bay Area, but never had an umbrella stand. Always found some other place to hang the umbrellas or leave them in the car. But I personally do not like to use umbrellas...I'd rather get drenched (don't like pulling up a hood, either). I just like to look at pretty umbrellas other people have!
I've only got one umbrella which lives in the back seat of my car! It comes out very rarely though For me, an umbrella stand would just be another piece of furniture to vacuum around
I'm with Lexichloe, umbrellas are a hassle, I'd rather wear a jacket with a hood. And as far as an umbrella stand, I live in L.A. so that would just be silly.
I hate umbrellas as well. I usually have a scarf with me so no need to carry one of those blasted contraptions. However, I do use them for when I have to sit on an open field for my daughter's soccer games in spring, so we have one next to the front door (inside.) I actually have to get a new one, as the one we have no longer fits our decor.
Here in the Bay Area, we've had Winters where it rained every day for nearly four months, so umbrella stands are a necessity. Do you have one in your home (or, like Betty Suarez, outside your front door)?
