Well she's obviously just blessed with a good metabolism and naturally lean frame - because she looks good for someone who doesn't do much exercise and doesn't reeeeally watch her diet.

I like her attitude too!

Everything in moderation.

Gah, I get so annoyed when celebs say "oh I eat what I want - LOVE my mom's mac and cheese! - and I do yoga once a week... and walk my puppy"

LIARS.

It's so refreshing when a celeb says "yes, I work out every day,for x hours, it's hard, I have to watch what I eat, etc."

runningesq on Mon, 11/10/2008 - 8:15am

my kind of atittude! cool!

fashionsake87 on Mon, 11/10/2008 - 8:22am

eh. I don't know. I mean, some celebs obviously work out a ton and are tiny and toned because their jobs call for it (like bikini shoots and what not).

But Jessica really isn't flaunting bikinis on gossip girl and seems like a petite gal. It could be true that she's at a healthy weight and therefore really maintaining her weight by eating things in moderation and working out occasionally.

I know, for me, when I was trying to lose weight I had a pretty "strict" food and workout regime, but now that I'm maintaining my weight I just workout regularly (but not as intense and strict) and I eat healthy but I also eat things I like in moderation (like french fries!).

(and running, I'm sorry if I misunderstood your comment, I just re-read it and I think I may have) Embarassed

syako on Mon, 11/10/2008 - 8:25am

Running...I so agree! They say "Oh, I eat pizza, cheeseburgers, and chocolate on the weekends for two whole days...then I do yoga on Monday morning"! Not true! Or not fair! I eat one cheat meal and it seems like my weight jumps up 2 pounds!

mtiger on Mon, 11/10/2008 - 11:51am

I only believe celebs who say "I eat burgers and fries and pizza and do yoga twice a week" when they have an OK body. If they have a SCREAMIN' body, I know they are doing a helluva lot more than a little bit of yoga. I never watch Gossip Girls, so I don't know what this girl's body is like, but I'm guessing she probably only indulges in "cheat meals" maybe once a week or so and she probably works out 4-5 times a week.

Spectra on Mon, 11/10/2008 - 12:01pm

Even if she's completely full of S at least 13- year- old girls will read her interview and say "they key is excercise!" instead of "the key is starving yourself!" so that's good.

I can't eat salmon and steamed vegetables every day, I would off myself.

Eat your five guys and do cardio, and wear spanx. It's cool.

this girl is beautiful, and if she's eating pretty okay and doing yoga and working out even only 2-3 times a week then i can believe it. she probably has a fairly good metabolism and is still pretty young.
i have a tiny frame and a normalish metabolism, and when i worked out 2-3 times a week, eat pretty well and do strength training, the pounds just melt away. of course, i get really lazy and thats when they come back!

serenavallentine on Mon, 11/10/2008 - 6:59pm

I don't really believe anything anyone says about their diet and exercise routines. It's just too personal of a thing and there's too much pressure and judgment not to fib. When people ask me, I even fudge, and I'm not a celebrity. When I was losing weight, I made light like "Oh, I've been working out and watching what I eat," when I'd been running like a mad woman and keeping track of every calorie. I didn't want to seem like a diet-obsessed nut bag. On the flip side, I might now exaggerate and say I run 2 or three times a week when it's really only once or twice.

When they say they eat stuff that they want, that doesn't necessarily mean junk food. I think that depends on how someones grows up since when you're used to home cooked meals (healthy meals) and your parents never took you to fast food chains (or restaurant chains in general) why would you start in your adult life?

This is how I grew up and when I say "i eat what I want", that certainly excludes fast-food because I don't want to eat it.

Witchy Ways on Tue, 11/11/2008 - 1:36am

Substitute "yoga" with "half hour swim" and you've got my regime down. I've maintained a BMI around 19 year round since my teens, with only minimal weight fluctuation. And yes, there are plenty of french fries involved. People's bodies function differently, and will change with age. How about instead of questioning her integrity we congratulate her for finding a balance that works for her right now.

you have to understand, some people are born with slim bodies, i get made fun of all the time for being skinny yet i will eat what i want. for me, it's just as bad as being too big. but i believe girls should eat what they want and if they have to work out more, do it, but the guys like to "hold onto something"!

FitSugar Says:

Jessica Szohr has it going on: Besides working as an actress on Gossip Girl (and snuggling up to Chace Crawford on-screen) and displaying enviable style, it seems she also has a relatable attitude toward health and fitness. PopSugar was lucky to attend the Juicy Couture 5th Avenue flagship store opening in NYC where Jessica spoke about how she stays fit during the holidays.

For me it’s just about balance because I’m not the greatest eater ever. I like my pizza and french fries with ranch sauce. But I also realize if I’m going to eat a lot then I have to work out a little bit. So I try to do yoga a couple times a week. And I’m trying to start to do cardio but it takes me like 30 minutes to run a mile so it’s not working out so well. I have been lately, more than normal, which is probably good because I’m going to eat a ton of cookies and stuff.

See what Jessica said when asked about avoiding temptation when you read more.

I think it’s balance. I try during the week not to eat whatever I want, kind of like, eat healthier. And on the weekend its like, you know what? I’m going to eat french fries.

When challenged with the question about what she does if she eats a lot of fries, Jessica smartly answered, "More yoga, maybe two miles." My kind of girl.
