momma tikita on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 5:23pm

Oooh exciting news!

KadBunny on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 6:03pm

Yeeees knew it! Thank you, President-elect Obama.
I think she'll do a fine job! And perhaps...one day...we'll run again. Smiling
*Sen. Clinton supporter*

JaeB on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 6:28pm

I think that's great. She really supported Obama toward the end of his campaign!

ladeemahogany on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 7:38pm

maybe someday she'll divorce her sleazy husband and I can have some respect for her as a woman.

krae85 on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 7:50pm

lol krae- I totally agree

StolzeMama on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 7:56pm

>maybe someday she'll divorce her sleazy husband and I can have some respect for her as a woman.

Seriously? She has to conduct her relationship in the way YOU think is best before earning your respect as a woman?

True Song on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 8:24pm

She's in a no-win situation, with regards to her sleazebag of a husband. If she doesn't divorce him, the feminazis are all over her about not standing up for herself as a woman. If she does, then the family values militants are on her about breaking up the family over a mistake, citing that marriage is forever. I wish her the best of luck in her new position.

UnDave35 on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 8:36pm

She wins in my book. Do what you choose to do and don't give a second thought to blowhards who would judge you for it.

True Song on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 8:39pm

I'm so excited!! and I totally agree with jaeb and undave.

PiNkY PiNk on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 8:51pm

Amen TS.

As to the news: Laughing out loud :D Laughing out loud :D Laughing out loud :D Laughing out loud :D Laughing out loud :D

harmonyfrance on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 9:55pm

Damn it! You get the idea. I'm happy. Woohoo

harmonyfrance on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 9:55pm

I'm with True Song... Yay!

BRANDYNICOLE730 on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 10:03pm

I love how some people who claim it was sooo sexist to discuss Palin's family and clothes will turn around and pass judgment on Clinton and how she handles her marriage.

And by I love it I mean it makes me want to drop kick them. b*tch can handle her own bidness.

(And of course I mean that in a completely general way! I'm not going to bother to look back at the comments and see if that applies to anyone here. I would hope it doesn't but I suspect it might.)

True Song on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 10:11pm

harmonyfrance on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 10:12pm

Sigh. I know Sugar Inc. has to put an asterisk in the word b*tch so no one knows what I'm actually saying, but I wish it would preserve capitalization. I don't start sentences with lower case letters, okay?

True Song on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 10:13pm

Yet somehow you got away with saying it just now.

harmonyfrance on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 10:15pm

Whoa, did I slip a b*tch past the censor? Ha.

Also, whenever I say the word b*tch, it always makes me think of that Justin Timberlake skit on SNL where they're the dancers caught in the cave, and at some point two of the ladies (Amy and Maya?) have some exchange like, "Who you callin' b*tch, b*tch?"

"I never said the word b*tch, b*tch!"

It's the tone, I guess. It was so funny.

True Song on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 10:17pm

I wonder why that one b*tch slipped through?

harmonyfrance on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 10:26pm

Looks like it's you and me true. I know you hate emoticons, but I'm giving you one anyway.

harmonyfrance on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 10:28pm

I thought JT was surprisingly good on SNL. I especially loved the Cup o' Soup skit..."Soup there it is!"

bluesarahlou on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 10:30pm

Pathetic--her husband cheats on her, so you don't respect her? God forbid one day your relationship should ever be in peril, and you get the pleasure of being judged by everyone with a pulse.

But I won't let your opinion about her personal life smear my happiness at this moment. GO HIL!!!!

em1282 on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 10:35pm

Perhaps, if more families tried to get couseling, or work through affairs or other marital problems, the divorce rate wouldn't be so ungodly high.

BRANDYNICOLE730 on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 10:35pm

And yes, TS, excellent points. UD, good point as well.

em1282 on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 10:37pm

"I love how some people who claim it was sooo sexist to discuss Palin's family and clothes will turn around and pass judgment on Clinton and how she handles her marriage."

em1282 on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 10:42pm

I don't know why the word b*tch randomly got through, but f*ck yeah!

Also JT should just join SNL.

True Song on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 10:55pm

He's a lot funnier than some of the guys on the show!

bluesarahlou on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 10:59pm

This is great and exciting news in my book! And with regards to this: "maybe someday she'll divorce her sleazy husband and I can have some respect for her as a woman." I had to laugh, otherwise I would cry. Kinda like what Sarah Palin makes me do.

bigestivediscuit on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 11:37pm

Maybe if she wore more skirtsuits and got more folksy, she'd be more respectable as a woman. Eye-wink

em1282 on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 11:38pm

JT should join SNL. I could watch a JT/Andy Samberg song every weekend.

em1282 on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 11:39pm

Good choice Obama! This woman has guts...I think she'll do a wonderful job as our new Secretary of State. I foresee nothing but good things for this new administration.

And some food for thought in regards to Hilary and Bill:

"When you truly truly love someone,
and you get to that point
where enough is enough,
never,
that point never comes,
you can never get to that point
when you truly TRULY love someone."
--The Mexican (movie)

starlet0000 on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 12:40am

Congrats Hillary! And great choice, Obama.

OT: I totally agree that JT should join SNL, he is always hilarious on that show. And bluesarahlou, the Soup skit you mentioned is a sequel to a skit that he had previously done on SNL where he dressed as an Omelette. It was hilarious!

californiagirlx7 on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 12:59am

If you believe in respecting Clinton as a woman, regardless of her choices, shouldn't you also believe in treating a woman who may disagree with you with a bit of respect too? I'm a little taken aback by Krae being ganged up on like this.

foxie on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 4:13am

Right, and by your logic I also respect the choice of a woman to beat her kids or do heroin. It's not "regardless of her choices."

True Song on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 5:13am

TS - Do you really believe Foxxie is referring to a woman who "beats her kids and uses heroine"? Would it have been better if she had said "...shouldn't you also believe in treating a woman who may disagree with Politicallyyou with a bit of respect too?"

UnDave35 on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 5:55am

Political? Huh? Respecting how a woman chooses to structure her family?

True Song on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 6:15am

Yuck! So much for Obama trying to unite the nation and get help and opinions for both parties. Wow.

ktseyf on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 6:30am

that was the best choice, i have more respect for hil sticking to her man that they shared so much with then for her to just divorce, no if there was no chance for that marriage to survive then yes im all for divorce, but give the marriage a chance, i agree with the one who said that the ones that damned the libs for their take on palin are the first to damn hil

pinkprincess1101 on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 6:56am

That's exactly what I said, TS. Good job.

foxie on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 7:03am

Good get her out of the senate, keep your enemies close Barack!

CaterpillarGirl on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 7:09am

Do we all seriously need to argue whether Hillary should leave Bill or not every SINGLE time she is in the news. BORING. It's her life. Get over it.

harmonyfrance on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 7:23am

Morning b*tches!

Now she really has to pick up the phone at 3AM.

GKitty on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 7:32am

You know HF, it seems you, em and TS are the ones that aren't getting over it. I am tired of hearing how lame Palin is on every post but you have your right to say it. To me the difference is this, I don't think the news media should be saying how they don't respect Hillary as a woman, just like I don't think the news media should be reporting on the marital relationship of Palin. But unfortunately you cannot stop an individual from believing things and stating there opinion in a comment. I don't respect Hillary as a woman. That isn't why I don't vote for her. Two COMPLETELY different things. And to comment # 8, it wasn't just 1 mistake. Bill made her look like a complete fool, and she acted like his puppet. From an outside perspective, it appears that the only reason she stayed with him was for political power. And that is what makes me lose respect for her. Now whether she should divorce him, that's her own decision. I just hate when public women let their husband's walk all over them, it isn't a good example for our youth.

StolzeMama on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 7:34am

Where is the "I'm not going there" emoticon when you need it?

UnDave35 on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 7:40am

Bil can wake her up...that the least he can do.

GKitty on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 7:41am

Give me a freaking break. I NEVER criticized Palin's family life or marriage EVER. Every single comment I made was about how unqualified for the job she was and I stand by that. If you want to criticize Hil's political stances have at it and I would love to debate you. If you want to argue with me over whether or not she should have left her husband when you know ABSOLUTELY nothing about her relationship and her family then I'm afraid you're out of luck. I don't judge people that way. If you want to, have at it, but don't expect me to respect it.

harmonyfrance on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 7:43am

lol, well I knew that comment would stir up a little something, but it's really how I feel. I've always wanted to really support hillary because, what she's doing career-wise and for future women is great! but I really can't respect her for staying with Bill, sorry- just can't. It's not Hillary's fault that he cheated but it was her decision to stay and say to other women, "I've been publicly disrespected by my husband and I'm okay with it." Well, I'm not. And whoever said whatever about Palin, I'm not a big fan of her either, I think having a child at her age was irresponsible and there are plenty of things I don't agree with her about.

Anyway, the thing that bothers me the most about her staying with Bill is that now whatever achievements she makes, HE gets partial credit because they're still married. And thanks Foxie, for sticking up for me Laughing out loud

krae85 on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 7:53am

HF I didn't mean to imply that you were the one that said anything about Palin and I apologize if it came off that way. And as I said, I don't care how you feel about a person. You have a right to those feelings, aside from anything political. I'm pretty sure I know where you stand with Clinton. I completely disagree with her political views, which is why I could never vote for her. I simply have a personal view that she was walked on and she took it and I think it is a bad role model for women. I hate that Palin was even brought up in this conversation(#25 and #28), but when I hear that you want us to shut up about how we feel about this woman but you seem to support others and then criticize other for standing up for another women, it is very hypocritical of a lot of you on here. I don't know if you are playing devils advocate or what. And all I said is that I agree that I cannot respect her as a woman until she stands up to a sleazebag Hubby. And that media should stay out of the marital relations of political figures.

StolzeMama on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 8:11am

Firt, Hil and Bil are a political machine. A traditional marriage could never exist, when the "common good" of that relationship is political gain. The marrige you speak of ended a long time ago.

GKitty on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 8:21am

I'm not sure I'm understanding exactly what you are saying. I am by no means playing the devil's advocate. I do think there is a hypocrisy when "people who claim it was sooo sexist to discuss Palin's family and clothes will turn around and pass judgment on Clinton and how she handles her marriage." That is what I was LOLing about. Anyway, I don't think you understand. I'm NOT saying that she SHOULD have stayed with her husband. I'm saying that I don't care. My opinion of her has nothing to do with her relationship with Bill. I judge her on her accomplishments and her assets to this country. And yes, just as you have the right to not "respect her as a woman until she stands up to a sleazebag Hubby," I have the right to disagree with you. And honestly if you don't want a response then don't single people out when you write a comment.

CitizenSugar Says:

After "much will she or won't she?" speculation, Hillary Clinton has accepted the job of secretary of state offered by Barack Obama. After the news broke a couple weeks back, 75 percent of you said they thought Clinton should take the position because she and Obama would make a great team.

Secretary of state is the highest-ranking cabinet secretary and head of the Department of State, concerned with foreign affairs. President-elect Obama will appear tomorrow with Hillary Clinton and current Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who will remain head of the Pentagon under Obama, at a press conference in Chicago at 10:40 a.m. (EST).

Do you think Hillary will make a capable secretary of state?
