    aka Daria on Fri, 12/12/2008 - 3:01pm

It's cute but I won't be spending money on it.

    krae85 on Fri, 12/12/2008 - 3:06pm

I was squealing with excitement until I read her very dark history!! Eeeep. That's smurfing horrible.

Wait a minute. LIVE ACTION SMURF MOVIE???

    Jude C on Fri, 12/12/2008 - 6:05pm

Wow I didn't realize that's how she came about, then again I was pretty young when I saw the Smurfs and it probably went over my head.

That's pretty bad, but I don't care what Papa smurf says brunettes are at lest just a hot as blonds! This is a cute set thank you for letting me know.

    fleurdelispink on Fri, 12/12/2008 - 7:41pm

So cute! My daughter would love...

    meringue on Sat, 12/13/2008 - 3:38am

huh, didn't know that was the real story behind smurfette. I feel betrayed!

I think I'm a little too old for Hello Kitty or Smurfette makeup, so I"m taking a pass

    bluesuze on Sat, 12/13/2008 - 5:37am

smurfs and life action won't mix well...

    Cris1192 on Sat, 12/13/2008 - 10:47am

Regardless of how Smurfette came to be, the Smurfs seem like a very nonsensical choice for make up packaging especially considering how there's only one female. Why not something like Rainbow Brite or Jem? Even Raggedy Ann would make more sense.

    Francoisehardly on Sat, 12/13/2008 - 11:34am

I don't really understand how you'd wear this. It looks like it's supposed to be face powder/highlighter but there is no way I'd wear blue on my cheeks and forehead.

    JaimeLeah526 on Sat, 12/13/2008 - 2:14pm

I've already seen the live action movie in Vegas. At the Venetian. Sticking out tongue

    KadBunny on Sat, 12/13/2008 - 3:54pm

I totally didn't know Smurfette's story....yecht. Pass on the makeup too, those colors just aren't for me.

    Glittersniffer on Sat, 12/13/2008 - 5:04pm

I don't think that I'd wear those colors, but I can't help but think it's adorable...I was a child of the 80s, so of course, I loved the Smurfs!

    emalove on Sat, 12/13/2008 - 5:30pm

    blue foundation! awesome!

    krae85 on Sat, 12/13/2008 - 6:13pm

I think this is super fun! I just saw the items on Sephora.com and they are pretty cool. I love anything retro and the packaging is great. The shadow quad colors a hot. The powder is genius looking.
I am a total 80s culture vulture...i have the junk food tees too.

    joy44 on Sat, 12/13/2008 - 10:21pm

This is pretty cute. I wouldn't buy it though as I've got enough makeup to work through!

    gigill on Sun, 12/14/2008 - 8:45am

Super cute. I like the packaging. Throw a Care Bear on something and I'll buy 2 of each. LOL. Smiling

    ChristinaMUFE on Sun, 12/14/2008 - 2:34pm

I read the Smurfette cartoon as a kid, and I remember struggling with understanding the plot because to me Smurfette looked cute BEFORE her dye job and nose job. After all, she's a smurf, not Angelina Jolie. Naive as I was to the ways of the world, I didn't understand the need to be blond in order to attract male smurf attention. I also never understood why she let Papa Smurf give her a make-over. I mean, would you? It's not like he's much of a looker.

    Rouge Noir on Mon, 12/15/2008 - 7:02am

    I had no idea!

She was adorable before the makeover. But like every other Hollywood starlette, she got a fashion makeover, a nose job, and went platinum blonde.

    verily on Mon, 12/15/2008 - 8:25am

Smiling I can't wait for it to come out! Although, I do not think I'd use it much, but I'd keep it

    demure20 on Mon, 12/15/2008 - 9:21am

    I ♥ Too Faced!! Smiling

    FoxyJo on Mon, 12/15/2008 - 10:22am

WOW.. the origin story semms a tad bit racist to me. I like the idea of 80's cartoon coming back now. If they make Care Bear make up, I would be all over it. and I don't even wear make up.

    BellaSugar Says:

Retro cartoons are increasingly popular within the makeup world — just witness the buzz around the forthcoming Hello Kitty collection for MAC. With its launch of a Smurfette collection, Too Faced is hoping to delight fans of the Smurfs before the live-action movie wraps up. WWD reports that the Too Faced collection will feature face powder, eye shadow, lip gloss, and liquid eyeliners. The items, heavy on blues, pinks, and lavenders, will land in stores later this month.

This might be smurfy news for some, but I'm going to pass on this collaboration. Even as a kid, I thought the story of Smurfette's genesis is as sexist as they come: Gargamel creates Smurfette to seduce and destroy the all-male Smurf clan. Alas, her dark hair, "big nose" and simple smock are not pretty enough to do so. Papa Smurf comes along, works his magic, and poof! Smurfette is, as Papa says, "new and improved" with long blond hair, a smaller nose, a shorter dress, and high heels. So, while it's just a cartoon and the Too Faced collaboration is meant to be fun, it's safe to say that Smurfette and I have some baggage to work through.
