It's gotta be weird to look out the hotel windows and see all the construction and activity going on in the city to mark your official arrival.

stephley on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 8:59am

That must be so exciting for the girls!

krae85 on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 9:18am

Yay he's finally coming! DC might actually be tolerable again soon~

c a t h on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 9:36am

Citizen the hotel they are staying at is supposed to be a secret.

Frank y Ava on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 10:05am

Even though I didn't vote for him, I wish him the best of luck and hopes he can do his best to get us out of this crappy rut!

bluepuppybites on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 10:08am

Frank, it's an obvious choice, and the not so Secret Service activity gives it away.

stephley on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 10:18am

Ya,ya i was being sarcastic. But I'm glad the girls get to start on time without all the hoopla of him being the President just yet.

Frank y Ava on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 10:30am

Can't wait him to ge the ball rolling.

momma tikita on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 7:54pm

Umm Liberty u spelled Michelle's name wrong. Ur missing an L.

Frank y Ava on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 8:06pm

Yay! That headline so required the exclamation. I'm getting tingles up my leg. No bias on this site what-so-ever!

StolzeMama on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 9:23pm

dc is tolerable now.

StolzeMama on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 9:23pm

I agree, it's getting close man only 24 days.

Frank y Ava on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 11:44pm

Yay - I am so excited for Obama to take over. We need a man of morals in the White House! And the hotel looks beautiful - those girls are getting so many crazy experiences at such a young age. Hopefully they will use them to change the world!

SKC Sparkle on Sun, 01/04/2009 - 2:06pm

There are not exclamation points behind any of the "Bush is leaving" articles, so this site can't be that biased Eye-wink

lildorothyparker on Sun, 01/04/2009 - 3:50pm

SKC, there is a man with morals in the white house.

CaterpillarGirl on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 5:20am

Would we prefer: "The Obamas are Moving in to Washington this weekend. Sad BOO! HISS! THE END OF THE WORLD IS NIGH!!!!!"

I like it better the other way. Smiling

em1282 on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 7:59am

...and a new president, whomever it may be, is always pretty exciting, IMO. So, yeah, maybe an exclamation point is necessary for the event.

em1282 on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 8:00am

I agree em, I think the exclamation point would be there regardless of who had been elected.

bluesarahlou on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 9:40am

You're going to be disappointed.

organicsugr on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 9:45am

"and a new president, whomever it may be, is always pretty exciting, IMO. So, yeah, maybe an exclamation point is necessary for the event." He's not president yet, he just moved to a hotel. What is exciting about that? Should we put an exclamation at the end of "Obama's carivan just pulled over at the Wendy's to use the restroom!!!"
And I don't think the exclamation would be there regardless of who is president. Anything Obama related gets this site all in a tizzy. It totally cracks me up. I could understand an exclamation point at the end of "Obama is officially sworn in!" yeah, but come on now.

StolzeMama on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 10:38am

We'll be disappointed once in a while - but it won't be anything like the utter despair and disgust that many of us have felt the past eight years.

stephley on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 10:40am

always look on the bright side of life (whistles) ...unless it has to do with something I disagree with.....

CaterpillarGirl on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 11:32am

And how much does that hotel cost a night? I mean if Obama is saying he is for the plight of the low income, shouldn't he give some of that money to them instead of staying in one of the most expensive hotels in DC?
I mean it cost $3200/day

StolzeMama on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 12:39pm

I stand corrected "The Hay Adams penthouse presidential suite usually goes for between $2,500 and $5,000 per night according to CBS News. "

StolzeMama on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 12:41pm

"It only has one bedroom so it is likely the Obamas have rented more than one suite for the next two weeks."

StolzeMama on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 12:41pm

well he wanted the Bushes to leave early, because they had to leave chicago for the girls to start school, i am at least glad that didnt happen!

CaterpillarGirl on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 12:50pm

CG me too!

StolzeMama on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 12:56pm

They didn't ask Bush to leave early, though obviously since Bush has been in Crawford so long it could have worked for all of us...

The Obamas asked if they could move to Blair House early - it is a government facility that a President elect stays in just before the inauguration. Any President-elect has security concerns Hain, Obama has had more threats than most so keeping him secure requires that he stay in a place that can handle a Presidential security detail. Most Motel 6's don't do that.

stephley on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 4:07pm

OMG Hainan why does ur hate 4 run so deep? A lot of politicians use that hotel when they are in Washington and the Obamas had to consider security.

Frank y Ava on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 7:41pm

And wtf CG, why would Obama ask the Bushes to leave early?

Frank y Ava on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 7:43pm

Franky Ava, he asked to move into the Blair house early, but there were already guests there so Bush said No. read the news.

"The Obamas were told that Blair House, where incoming presidents usually stay in the five days before Inauguration Day, is booked in early January, a spokesperson to the Obama transition said. “We explored the idea so that the girls could start school on schedule,’ the spokesperson said. “But, there were previously scheduled events and guests that couldn’t be displaced.”- Wonkette.

CaterpillarGirl on Tue, 01/06/2009 - 5:53am

They only asked so the girls could start school on time. How is that such a horrible thing since it is the place that president elects usually stay before Inauguration Day?

kastarte2 on Tue, 01/06/2009 - 7:11am

kastarte, it was already booked at the time, and Obama was early on his request. Its not a horrible thing to ask, but alot of people were up in arms about it, saying that Bush was just being unreasonable.

CaterpillarGirl on Tue, 01/06/2009 - 7:20am

Doesn't sound like either party was unreasonable to me. shrug

kastarte2 on Tue, 01/06/2009 - 12:06pm

Blair House is not a party facility: it is the official government guest house - there are no international leaders visiting Washington, nor have there been - Bush has been in Crawford, not in DC to deal with anyone.
They've booked it for parties and can't accomodate the incoming President of the U.S. - that's nonsense and if Clinton had tried that on Bush, the Republicans would have declared war.

stephley on Tue, 01/06/2009 - 3:34pm

Um CG I read the news actually. They asked a favor and Bush said no. Ok then move on.

Frank y Ava on Tue, 01/06/2009 - 7:45pm

LibertySugar Says:

After a trip to Hawaii for his late grandmother's memorial, President-elect Obama and his family are moving to Washington this weekend ahead of schedule. The inauguration isn't until Jan. 20, but Malia and Sasha begin classes at the Sidwell Friends School on Monday and Obama reportedly wants to start working.

Obama's transition team hoped the family would be able to move into Blair House, the government guest house across the street from the White House, but the Bush administration claimed it's booked until Jan. 15. The Obamas reportedly found space at the fancy Hay-Adams hotel, and will stay there until they are able to move into their new abode.
