I don't care for it on her. It makes her look very pear-shaped.

Now I love me some Kate Winslet and am rooting for her to (finally) win the Oscar this year. But as much as I want to love this dress, I just don't. It's fine from the knees up but I really don't care for the bottom - it's not quite a mermaid silhouette and it makes her look like a bit of a sausage. But I LOVE the color.

honestly, no. but I love her. the dress should either stop above the knees, or be long. this is a mixture of both and it's really not pretty.

To me, this is perfection. I love that she embraces looking like a woman. She is very thin these days, but this dress still sets her apart from the young girls in hollywood who want to look stick-thin.

I think it would be interesting if the women who said the dress was not flattering showed this picture to their husbands/boyfriends... I would guess men think she looks fabulous while women think she looks too big in the hips.

Is she wearing satin? It would explain why it's nearly ultraviolet bright. I love it knees up. The bottom throws the look off, I think.

Ditto on your comment about men thinking she's hot, CheapandChic. From a scientific standpoint, men are most attracted to women with a hip/waist ratio of .7 = guys like curvy hips!

i love her, and that color on her is fab. but i think the waist-band detailing cuts her off. it looks too tight. she isn't fat by any means, but that waist band is weird to me and that combined w/ the bottom half make her look stumpy.

It would make a great cocktail dress. Just chop off the weirdly shiny bottom part of the dress.

I was thinking the same thing designerel! I would be a great cocktail dress without the bottom part. Although there's something weird about the top straps too. They look kinda tight, like she's about to bungee jump or something.

This dress would be so much better if it wasn't so choppy looking - it just isn't flattering. The color is fabulous, though.
