I took that approach when I wanted to become healthier a year ago. First, I got myself into the gym. Then, slowly I started to evaluate what I've been eating and cutting out the really bad stuff while incorporating good stuff. Now, I'm finally quitting smoking. It's been a year of turning my lifestyle into a more healthy one. I still feel like I have a lot of work to do, but these smaller accomplishments make me feel fantastic about myself.

p.s. Fitsugar, you have been a great source of information and inspiration on this journey. Thank you!

I was working on going to bed by 11:30. But that may have fallen through. I HAVE succeeded however in not adding salt to any foods! Except for maybe potatoes..

my focus has been portion control and drinking lots of water. I'm still struggling to get out of bed in the mornings to work out, but I see a difference just based on the amount of food I put in my system, which is really encouraging!

for me i started focusing on getting 30 minutes of exercise at the gym last October. Then in November, I added eating more fruits and vegetables and phasing out the processed foods. I am finally starting to feel the results in my energy levels.

things i did since last Sept:
1. exercise at least 3 times a week, such as jogging, or wii fit (30-45min) each time.
2. portion control , no late dinners, but the occasional indulge if I need to

results?? higher energy levels, more stamina, and 35 pounds gone!

I've started to get at least seven hours of sleep every night. I am such a happier person now! A while back I started to pay more attention to the sodium in my foods and straying away from processed foods. I have noticed I don't feel and look as "puffy" in my face and I feel skinnier. Smiling

Same here -- getting adequate sleep. Also, balancing my life between work and play.

I really have been focusing on remembering my fish oil supplements because they help my hair and skin look better. I don't eat enough fish every day, so it's really important for me to remember them.

I'm trying to work on - and make friends with - my arms. I really don't like them, but part of it is definitely in my head. So I'm working on the pyschological and physical, but on one area in particular!

I am working on eating more naturally, rather than eating processed foods. Making real oatmeal instead of instant, foods with no high fructose corn syrup, fresh veggies instead of canned, etc.

FitSugar Says:

When you resolve to lead a healthier life, deciding where to begin can be an overwhelming task. Take your cue from Jenna Fischer and focus on one thing at a time.

Jenna was more than Self magazine's February cover girl; she was the focus of the editors' get-healthier-and-happier challenge. They gave Jenna 10 challenges that she would accomplish in two weeks, and the focus of each task varied from making a healthy crock-pot meal to getting eight hours of sleep.

When the two weeks came to an end, Jenna reported that her favorite thing about the experience was "having the opportunity to concentrate on one area of my life at a time and really examine the way I approach each." The lesson she learned about taking one thing at a time is a great approach for us all to adopt when trying to form healthier habits. Tell me below what healthy habit you have been focusing on lately.
