Obviously I'm siding with Lo (and not just because we have the same name! LOL). Spinning is an amazing form of cardio, I love that it's an intense 45 minutes and then it's done. Unfortunately my gym doesn't have spin classes, and right now I can't afford to pay for them at a studio, so I haven't done it in a while.

Spinning is addicting. Sometimes I can get a bit annoyed with the music the spinning instructor chooses. But when the music is right, I go all out. I'd really like to try boxing (with an actual boxing bag and gloves). But I don't know if a lot of gyms offer that these days.

I love to hate spin. sometimes I go for the hour long class and wonder why I did and suddenly its over. I think its so great for changing up your work out.You can go at your own pace and if you do it correctly it is so great.

JBanana on Tue, 06/09/2009 - 4:43am

I love spinning. But It is such an instructor/music based class. If the instructor doesn't have the right energy to get you motivated, or the music being played isn't your style, it sucks. You really have to shop around to find the right spin environment. It also, sometimes takes a couple of classes to get addicted.
I also love kick boxing. Like tini darling, I would love to try actual boxing one day. I want to be like Hilary Swank in Million Dollar Baby, ha!

I have a love/hate relationship with it. Sometimes the instructors are awful, but it's a great workout. I haven't gone in a long time though.

tlsgirl on Tue, 06/09/2009 - 5:26am

well my life is now complete to know that they like to workout in different styles. i don't know what i would have done today w/o that.

anyway- it's good to know that they are really health conscious - and it makes you feel better about how they are both so skinny and in great shape

I hate spinning because of my poor ass. Lol. I'm just not willing to spring for the padded shorts for a class I may take a couple times a month maximum.

Hate spinning, cycling in the nature is the way to go for me.

Absolutely love spinning!I take spinning classes 3 times a week and spin my heart away:)My instructor is a bit brutal (which is great:)I also enjoy running and weights but spinning is a great way to mix it up and make sure you don't stuck in a boring routine.

Mila_83 on Tue, 06/09/2009 - 7:57am

I LOVE spinning! I try to spin 3 times a week and maybe a 4th with bootcamp spinning. I try to mix it up on other days so my body doesn't get too used to it. With great music and a great instructor class is great and I go all out and burn several hundred calories. Even on an off day it is still a good workout and I love the feeling when I have made it through another class!

KSansha on Tue, 06/09/2009 - 8:38am

Love spinning and wish I could take it more but I teach so many classes that I'm afraid I'd burn out.

Between it and kickbox, my perfect cardios!

redsilkshoes on Tue, 06/09/2009 - 8:52am

I don't even know what spinning is. Oops!

I have an aversion to classes in general. I do running for cardio, and am by far the fastest girl at my gym. I think they are for people that enjoy the group atmosphere to encourage them to push themselves harder.

spacekatgal on Tue, 06/09/2009 - 9:14am

I like spinning but I hate that my bum is completely toast for a day or two later even with a gel seat cover! Normally I guess you'd build up the leather of your hide slowly before such an intense ride so that is the main con with spinning!

I love how i feel after a spinning class. No other machine in the gym can give me the workout, because I am just not all that self- motivated when it comes to "just keep going" and "push these last 30 seconds of the track"

superstephanie on Tue, 06/09/2009 - 11:52am

I've never done spinning, but I've heard that it's a lot of fun. I like to bike on my own, so I'm not sure how much I'd like an instructor yelling things at me the whole time, but it could be fun.

Spectra on Tue, 06/09/2009 - 12:43pm

mondaymoos - you can also get a padded seat for less than $15 that just ties onto the spin seats.

tlsgirl on Tue, 06/09/2009 - 12:58pm

I love spinning! I go 2x a week.

I completely agree with others who said the instructor/music makes the class. I tried out a bunch of different classes/instructors before finding the right one for me. I don't know what I'll ever do if he quits instructing @ my gym!

Anonymous on Tue, 06/09/2009 - 2:08pm

I've never done it, but so many people like it, so I may try it out. I need something different....I'm so sick of the treadmill right now.

hmweis1 on Thu, 06/11/2009 - 1:37pm

never done spining

Poppie on Fri, 06/12/2009 - 2:10am

Spinning is sooo absolutely addicting! I went to my first class about 3 months ago and hated it. I couldnt even keep up. It blew my mind to see other people actually keeping up with it. But, seeing everyone else keep up only made me more determined to be able to do it too. I went again for my second time and felt a little more capable. By my 3rd time i was not only able to complete the class, i was addicted. I think its so much more than just a full body intense cardio workout, it is also a social atmosphere and it definitely is good for the spirit! Id recommend it to anyone! I spin up to 5 times a week now.

FitSugar Says:

While talking to PopSugar on their way to A Time For Heroes Celebrity Carnival, LC and Lo talked health and fitness.

Lauren told Pop that the housemates cook a lot at home and are firm supporters of organic food. Among many things they share, one is a personal trainer. They do not, however, share the same opinion when it comes to spinning. Here's a brief exchange to clue us in to their fitness personalities:

Lo: I just started spin and Lauren went with me.
LC: — and I hate it. I prefer boxing or hiking, more fun activities.
Lo: I love it though. I think it’s just important to keep it varied so you don’t hit a plateau.

Last year we learned that LC loved boxing, and glad to hear she is sticking with it — you gotta do what you love. I share a love of spinning with Lo. What about you? Where do you stand in the great spinning debate?
