my mother owns her own flower shoppe and let me tell you; it's not easy and it's not dreamy. it's a lot of hard work! it's one of the only profession where you celebrate all the big 3's- birth, marriage and funeral. your hands never look pretty b/c they are cut up from chopping flowers stems and designing the floral arrangement (roses have MANY thorns), you deal with diva brides for their weddings (many brides think they know what they want, then tell you the day of the wedding it's not correct, they hate them) on top of being stressed to MAKE the flowers perfect for their wedding, funerals are difficult and part of the job description, teenagers who want cheap corsages for prom. takes lots of time to make, for little cost. i could go on and on. there are perks, but it's not dreamy. sorry to burst anyone's bubble. lol.
I think I would love owning a flower shop! Oh yeah, except for the fact that I'm really bad at flower arranging. And I mean really, really bad. I actually think my husband is better than me, even though he hates flowers and thinks they are a ridiclous waste of money.
I watched the lady doing the flowers for my wedding whip up a gorgeous bouquet in minutes. Flower shop owners have a special sort of visual creativity I don't think I'll ever reach, but I admire them!
Ha! Yea, owning a flower shop is like owning any business...it's hard work. Sure it's great to smell the flowers, that is if you can smell them over your own sweat.

Yes I would love to own a flowershop. On a side note though, as a Seattleite I find Jennifer Aniston as a Seattle flower shop owner completely ludicrous casting. It irritates me how they think they can just slap a beanie on someone and they can seem like they are from Seattle. Not so people!
Who wouldn't want to be their own boss. And a flower shop doesn't sound so bad. Of course for me the flowers wouldn't look so good all the time. I am awful at keeping plants and flowers alive. You'd surely pass by my store unless you got into the Gothic death look.
I love getting flowers, but flower shops are FREEZING, so i would not enjoy that. Plus, I imagine the shop would attract bees and other stinging insects, which would not be good for me...or the customers...
Well I hate to pop everyone bubbles, however, flowers don't smell anymore, they are forced grown and genetically engineerd so the scent is gone. All day long we deal with primadonas and bridezillas. If you are an owner, you don't set your own hours. You basically work 12 hour days 7 days a week on your feet, in the cold. And basically you are the employee of lots of people. Oh and you work EVERY holiday and by the time you get home you are so tire you don't even want to know about them. It is a nice fantasy though.
In the new romantic comedy Love Happens, Jennifer Aniston plays flower shop proprietor Eloise Chandler. I think that tending flowers all day would be a dreamy job. What about you?
