You can also do this by laying down and pulling one leg in with a towel...

I like it so much better with a theraband, you can really work through your foot.

I need to do this. I had a severe foot cramp hit after yoga on Wednesday and it took about 10 mintues to massage it out. It was right at the center of the bottom of my foot and had my toes curled upward - awful pain. Think it was a combination of not drinking enough water and pointing my toes too much after being in heels all day.

Definitely need to take better (and nicer) care of my feet.

If you think about it, your feet take a lot of beating, from pounding the ground when running, to walking all over the city, to wearing high heels. They carry the weight of our entire bodies, so take time to give them some TLC. This stretch will target the muscle in the soles of your feet, but will also stretch your calves.

To learn how to do this stretch [break]keep reading[/break].

    • Sit on the floor with both legs straight out in front of you.
    • Fold a hand towel in half and hold on to either end with each hand. Hook the middle of the towel around the ball of your right flexed foot.
    • Bend your elbows back and pull the towel toward your chest while keeping your right leg straight, but don't jam the back of you knee into the floor. To increase the stretch in your calf, bend your right knee slightly.
    • Hold here for 30 seconds and then do this stretch with the left foot.
