I call bullsh*t on that 110 lbs...which I think is pretty uncool of her. She seems to have a good deal of muscle, which makes me think she is not anywhere near 110. I would say more like 125-130. I also call bullsh*t on giving up booze getting her to that weight. I hate when celebs pull crap like this. Yes you might give up booze, and probably carbs, sugar, fat...maybe even crazy stuff like fruit. I am so sick of them promoting this idea that "oh I just happen to be pretty much naturally underweight...haha suckers."

jkat on Tue, 11/03/2009 - 3:36pm

I don't know; it's possible that she's at 110 now, but I think it's a little higher. I hope she doesn't lose too much weight, because it's not like she even had 20 lbs to lose in the first place. I'm also guessing that she did a LITTLE more than just give up a few shots of tequila to lose 20 lbs. Seriously, who do celebs think they're fooling when they say stuff like that?

Spectra on Tue, 11/03/2009 - 4:33pm

I'm calling bullsh*t on your bullsh*t. I'm 5-6 and just over 130, and I'd say kate is way closer to 110.

dubalicious on Tue, 11/03/2009 - 4:56pm

I dunno, this is one of the few celeb slim-down stories that actually seems true. Depending on how much you drink, that's a lot of calories.

tlsgirl on Tue, 11/03/2009 - 4:57pm

Wow, horrible job with the quoting. I read the interview and Kate said that she's a solid girl, not tiny, like 110lbs. (or something to that effect. I'm paraphrasing here.) She said that after she lost 20 lbs. for the role, then perhaps she'd be headed towards that [110 lbs.] She never specified her current weight, or her weight for the role.

Anonymous on Tue, 11/03/2009 - 6:42pm

Makes sense. I don't think she's saying that giving up alcohol alone dropped 20 pounds off of her - she probably also upped her workouts, etc. Besides, she's 110 pounds now for the film - which means that she's 130 normally. She must have a lot of muscle, then, because I'm also 5'6" and when I was 130, I looked (and photographed) quite a bit heavier than a 'regular' Kate Hudson. My guess is that she's usually 120 and dropped 10 for the role.

Anyway, it doesn't matter...this story mainly is a reminder that drinks can be pretty high-cal, and that's good to keep in mind, especially around the holidays. Smiling

fauxcat on Tue, 11/03/2009 - 6:48pm

and really, who cares if she's 110 or 130.

leslievanhouten on Tue, 11/03/2009 - 6:49pm

Well, I find it hard to believe she's about 110 lbs. I'm about that weight, and I'm much shorter than her. I'm a petite size 4 (smaller for regular sizes). Even if she's my dress size, she would have to weigh at least 10 lbs heavier than me because of her height.

Also, I agree -- she has to do more than give up alcohol to lose 20 lbs (because she's NOT overweight to begin with). She would have to take more extreme measures for her body to give up that weight.

If her statement is correct, and she weighs 110 lbs, so does she weigh 90 lbs now?? At 5'-6," there is no way she can function normally at 90 lbs. So again, I doubt she was 110 lbs to begin with.

Boy, I had a lot to say. LOL

GlowingMoon on Tue, 11/03/2009 - 6:53pm

I think she is about 110 now. I am the same weight, but 5'-4" and she look skinnier than me. Just wondering if she has a hard time to buy clothes here.

lydialee_home on Tue, 11/03/2009 - 7:28pm

Not drinking alcohol to lose 20lbs? Ha! LOL. I call BS on that one.

nevaeh1978 on Tue, 11/03/2009 - 11:29pm

Diet tips so you can look like a terminally ill patient. Did someone hit up the crack pipe before posting that one?

Niami on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 5:18am

Hmm...I think she could be about 110 lbs. I'm 5'6" and I weight about 112 lbs and I would say she probably looks about my size or slightly smaller than me since I carry my weight in my thighs.

Anyways, she must drink a decent amount of alcohol on a regular basis if cutting out alcohol was all it took for her to get to the weight she needed for the role. I think she probaby gave up other stuff too or increased her workouts.

Yogaforlife on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 5:34am

The quote says "heading towards 110lbs" which I read as after she loses the weight for the role she will be 110. Either way, if she's playing a terminally ill patient, she probably can't look toned. My guess is she gave up the booze and upped her cardio but no weights. She probably has to lose a lot of muscle (which weighs quite a bit) which would also help her lose pounds. It's too bad b/c I love her athletic look. I can't imagine having to go to an unhealthy weight for a movie role.

Vanonymous on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 6:06am

I'm 5'6" and 128 pounds, but I also have boobs and a butt and Kate Hudson is flat as a board, which subtracts from weight significantly. I wouldn't be surprised if she was around 110 after losing a little bit of weight for her upcoming film.

Ps. Fitsugar isn't telling everyone to stop eating and get down to 110 pounds. She was just quoting an article while reiterating that alcohol doesn't help with slimming down. Chill out.

mandawahoo on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 6:17am

I also lost a lot of weight when I stopped drinking. I totally believe this.

spacekatgal on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 7:11am

I lost about 15 lbs by stopping drinking in college. Of course, I gained it back once I started up on margeritas again! Smiling

LaurenG22 on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 7:28am

5'6 110 is VERY tiny. And underweight. My sister is 5'5 115 and she is a toothpick!

PhillyEagles1 on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 7:34am

oh my lord- who really cares? Just worry about yourselves.

tylergrl33 on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 7:37am

Nevaeh, there was some article in Glamour a few years ago about a reasonably healthy girl who just cut out drinking and lost like 15 pounds over 6 weeks, so I don't know. It depends on how much you were already drinking, I guess.

Niamai, lol!

Modus Vivendi on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 7:52am

I'm 5'8 and weigh 130 and i look a heck of a lot bigger than kate hudson. if you've ever seen a celeb in person you know that they look like toothpicks compared to what they look like on camera...SO TINY! so i don't think this weight would be a stretch for her

Anonymous on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 8:10am

Good points here, I do believe Kate probably do other things and workout but it's probably the first time she has cut out alcohol and that made all the difference. I think this is pointed for that reason, not because she is saying that's all you need to do (even though a lot of other posters have talked about how cutting alcohol did work for them and I believe it) just that she was astounded at how it finished or helped her lose/maintain the weight that she has recently.

Ok?

Also check out comments #5 and 6.

PeachyKeen19 on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 11:13am

She never said that giving up alcohol is the only thing she does to lose weight. It's just one that she chose to mention because it's one that she has trouble doing. I think if she started to describe her whole regimen it would be a very boring interview... Plus I admire her honesty on Botox subject.

sourcherry on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 2:33pm

I'm pretty sure they're saying she is TRYING to be 110? I dont think she's 110 right now.

Camarogirl67 on Thu, 11/05/2009 - 6:35am

She said in an interview a while back (skeleton key) that her weight stays around 118 lbs, so that leads me to believe that her weight loss weight is actually around 98 lbs which is definitely not healthy for 5' 6. Maybe 110 lbs was her midpoint in the weight loss?

CashBunny on Sat, 11/07/2009 - 7:04am

You guys must be joking to not believe that quitting alcohol will help a drinker take off weight. First of all, given her body images, it is obvious that she has been working out recently, which does tend to help one shed pounds. And so what if she is dieting to lose weight for a role anyway. Secondly, this girl is a partier! She LOVES to drink and have fun! She is used to drinking often, probably on a daily basis! SOOOO quitting alcohol can definitely contribute to her losing weight, especially combined with exercise. I know personally that if I am trying to lose weight, I don't even want to have one drink because one will make me want two... And she said that after she lost 20 lbs for the role she would probably be around 110 pounds. She did not say that she weighed 110 pounds at the time of the interview. Why can't we just take her word for it anyway?

Anonymous on Mon, 11/09/2009 - 11:44pm

you people can't read. she is "heading towards" 110, which means she is 130 normally. 110 is the movie weight.

FitSugar Says:

Kate Hudson dishes the skinny on weight loss, Botox, and A-rod in the December issue of Elle UK, which hits newsstands this week. The already slim star has to lose 20 lbs. for her upcoming role as a terminally ill patient in the new film, Earthbound. Though she's not exactly sure of her exact weight, the mother of one thinks she's heading towards 110 pounds — pretty tiny given she's 5 ft. 6 in. tall.

How does an already slim and healthy girl like Kate get that tiny? Give up alcohol, apparently. It seems that Ms. Hudson is a fan of knocking a few back. "I love my glass of wine. I love tequila," says the star. "To be in New York for two weeks and not have one beverage! I'm not sure I've ever done that."

Given how many calories and sugar alcohol contains it makes sense that the sacrifice worked for her.

To see what this Kate thinks about Botox read more.

I think Kate looks great au naturel, but when the time is right she might get a little help to keep her youthful glow. "Everyone’s so obsessed with who gets Botox, but it’s great! Are you kidding? The fact that women can avoid going under the knife and get a little Botox treat and not have to worry about it? I’m glad it’s there for when it’s time."

For now, Kate is crossing her fingers that her Yankee man will find victory at this year's World Series.
